For close to 20 years Murray and Ann Bering along with Richard (one of their three sons) have specialized in Quality Maple Syrup and related products, ranging from Maple Butter and Candies to our recent addition of Gourmet Maple Products, Maple BBQ Sauces, Maple Herb Dressing and Maple Red Pepper Jelly. Since 1990 White Meadows Farms has welcomed the public onto the farm every spring for a taste of the sweet life, with our Pancake Weekends and Sugar Bush Adventure. It’s such an exciting time, even for us, as we educate about Maple Syrup and talk to people who have made it an annual tradition for their families and friends. We offer a self guided tour of our bush beginning with a tractor pulled wagon ride. While in the bush you will discover how the Natives and Pioneers once processed sap to syrup through our period costume staff. In 2000 we replaced our ‘Green house’ Pancake eating area with a brand new wood framed building with a seating capacity of 177, a full kitchen and evaporator room. This building can be used year round from birthday parties, anniversary parties to wedding and holiday gathers. In 2010 we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our Pancake House. This is exciting and challenging. “We have never done anything like this in the past says Ann. We planned activities like skating, tobogganing and even a celebration weekend with cake to show our customers just how far we have come with their support”. “From setting up the lines that carry the sap to a holding tank to arranging the displays, preparing for the Sugar Bush tours takes approximately one month in the bush and plenty of hands says Murray. It’s all worth it to see the look on the children’s face though”. WMF also operates a quaint Maple Sweet Shop to purchase all your sweet treats. The store is open year round and specializes in none other than Maple. Yes that’s right, this locally grown snack food, natural popping corn, is quietly popping up in the field at White Meadows Farms. Additional Information Join us weekends starting in January (check our website for dates) for an all day breakfast in our Pancake House featuring pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, peameal bacon, home fries, WMF Maple Baked Beans, Maple Apple Crisp, Maple Cheesecake, Maple coffee tea and hot chocolate and much more. Each February - April we welcome people onto our property to enjoy the rich experience of how we collect sap and boil it into syrup. Enjoy a tractor-drawn wagon ride to our sugar bush to start the day. After you arrive at the entrance to the sugar bush, the marked trail will guide you to the excitement. Along the way you can learn about the different trees and animals that live in harmony with nature. Not long after you enter you will come across the first of many fires to warm your face and hands. There, you will hear the legend about the discovery of maple syrup from our native Re-enactors. Further down the trail will bring you into the 1600's where you will met the Pioneers and yet another fire to warm your cheeks. These humble settlers will explain how they learned from the natives how to collect the sap of the Sugar Maple and how they changed the way syrup was made. Into the forest we head, and the fun is just beginning. Here you can try drilling a hole to collect the sap, see how many holes a Maple Tree can have and cut a wood coin and have it branded with a maple leaf. Don't forget to try the Taffy on Snow, a true delight for everyone. Further into the woods we go, as you learn about the evolution of the production of maple syrup into the way we make it today!
